The Fredericton Golf Club is a semi-private golf club nestled conveniently in the heart of Fredericton, New Brunswick. Since 1916, we have been providing members and guests quality golf and social experience by delivering superior playing conditions, service and amenities.

We have a clubhouse with a restaurant, full-service pro shop, PGA of Canada teaching staff, and an exceptional 18-hole layout. We offer a range of social and competitive playing opportunities and have highly active men’s and women’s leagues and a newly revamped junior program. Our unique ‘walk-on’ policy and our online booking system allow easy access to the course and we boast an exceptional pace of play. We are proud of our course and excited to be rebuilding four greens in 2019 by the renowned golf course architect Rod Whitman and his design team.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a motivated individual to lead our team in delivering professional, innovative service to our membership and promote a culture of excellence. The General Manager will bring a highly developed business sense and will create a place where members and guests are excited to play and motivated to stay.

The General Manager is responsible and accountable for the club and facilities, including its activities and relationships between members, guests, and the community. The General Manager has direct reports from the Head Professional, Grounds Superintendent, and Bookkeeper/Office Manager. The General Manager is also responsible for the management of the Food and Beverage service provided by a third-party contractor.

Reporting directly to the President and Board of Directors, the GM is responsible for daily operations to maximize member and guest satisfaction while maintaining strong financial performance.

Duties and responsibilities include:

• Working with the Board of Directors and Finance Committee to develop and monitor annual operating and capital budgets, and, when necessary providing recommendations for corrective action

  • Recruiting, hiring and retaining employees. Ensuring that staffing requirements are met, and that staff is managed in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Ensuring a positive member experience both on and off the course. Building member relationships by being visible at appropriate times, greeting members and guests, participating in club activities.
  • Coordinating club, corporate and private events, tournaments, member and guest visits.
  • Developing and implementing marketing and sales strategies to recruit and retain members.
  • Encouraging and developing junior golfers.
  • Overseeing the care and maintenance of all physical assets of the facility.
  • Attending Board of Director meetings, relevant committee meetings, and conducting regular staff meetings.
  • Communicating with the Board, staff, and members.


  • Post-secondary education in either golf, hospitality, or business administration
  • Minimum 3 years experience in golf club operations under board governance
  • Solid understanding of accounting procedures and financial statements
  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills
  • Exceptional communication, marketing, sales, and customer service skills
  • Strong computer skills, ability to use golf-related and social media applications
  • Membership in PGA of Canada is an asset.
